A fab 10 year old single malt from Benriach, released as part of a new core range launched in 2020. The Original Ten was matured in a trio of casks – bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak casks – imparted a bounty of honeyed fruit and softly toasted oak notes, alongside just a hint of smoke (if you’re looking for something a little more peaty, you’ll want to check out The Smoky Ten, too!). Nose:Nectarine, honeydew melon, vanilla sponge with cream and jam and a touch of cedar.
Palate:More baked goods – now croissants dipped in milky coffee and cinnamon rolls. Still packs plenty of creamy orchard fruits notes, plus a waft of earthy peat.
Finish:Nutty malt, vanilla pod and apricot remains.
